At Soucy, we believe that a person’s professional trajectory is never cast in stone. In fact, we do everything we can to help our employees build the career they want. How? By offering opportunities for advancement as well as support that is tailored to each person’s professional aspirations. Here’s the story of three women who have seen their careers blossom at Soucy.

Joëlle loves to say that she’s had two careers at Soucy. She first started out as an HR advisor for three divisions in Drummondville and quickly developed her autonomy and honed her efficiency. After a few years, Joëlle was assigned to a single division. Because she was alone in this position, she was able to get involved in the management committee. This in turn allowed her to become more familiar with the strategic and financial aspects of the company. Senior executives soon offered her a more corporate position. She accepted and began designing and deploying programs that promote a work-life balance – programs that are still highly appreciated by Soucy employees!

After a few years of juggling her family and work life, Joëlle decided to dedicate herself to being a full-time mom of three. Her personal and professional experiences during this time led to major introspection. She also developed new skills such as active listening and cultivated her emotional intelligence.

Joëlle returned to Soucy Track Systems a few years later as an HR advisor. “It was like coming home to a huge family. I appreciate the work environment, the team spirit, the values that are aligned with my own, and my colleagues.” One year later, everything fell into place and she accepted the position of HR director at Soucy Plastiques. “In that moment, I realized that everyone had believed in me for a long time, but I was the only one who didn’t fully trust my own abilities.”

With a bit of hindsight, Joëlle has realized that the main barriers she met along the way were ones she inflicted on herself. Her learning opportunities and personal growth paved the way for her to feel fulfilled in the position she currently occupies.

Rachel Ladeira is an engineer by training who always embraces change. During her studies in chemical engineering in Brazil (her country of birth), she completed an internship in France. Once back home, she began looking for somewhere that would provide her with new perspectives and a better quality of life.

When visiting friends, Rachel fell in love with Quebec. Her job search came to an end when she took on the position of project manager at Soucy Rubber Tracks.

A year and a half later, Rachel agreed to take on a new challenge. In recognition for her experience, skillsets, and leadership, she was offered the position of process and methods team leader. Even though this change wasn’t frightening for her, she still took the time to carefully ponder her actions at this professional fork in the road. “I knew leading a team was a big responsibility. Thankfully, my manager at the time was very supportive in the early days. I truly felt supported and encouraged!”

Thanks to her determination and talent, Rachel has come an impressively long way. And she will no doubt continue to inspire and lead the team with the same dedication!

Andreia Bindi Siqueira Magalhaes is able to draw on a wealth of international experience. As a mechanical engineer by training, she spent 15 years in the quality assurance sector in Brazil (her country of birth) and worked remotely for a Finnish company.

Andreia loves immersing herself in new cultures. When her spouse obtained employment in Quebec, she knew she’d be moving to Canada. She also believed the future had wonderful things in store. After she moved here, the company that employed her husband offered her a position.

Three years later, she agreed to become a quality project manager at Soucy Track Systems. During a career progression meeting a few months thereafter, she told her manager she wanted to become a manager herself. With her experience and skills, she was quickly tasked with leading a team.

Andreia is a force of nature. Despite the obstacles she faced along the way, she believes that success is defined by the way you rise to the challenge.

Thanks to their proactivity and ability to jump on opportunities, Joëlle, Rachel, and Adreia quickly rose through the ranks at Soucy. Their career progression not only illustrates the importance of believing in yourself, it also shows the value of working for a company that genuinely cares about the personal and professional growth of employees. At Soucy, the variety of positions available – combined with personalized support from managers – provides every employee with the opportunity to explore their full potential and reach new heights!
