Polaris is a global leader in powersports with a wide range of off-road vehicles, snowmobiles, and motorcycles. The Slingshot three-wheel open-air roadster is a newer addition to the Polaris line.
It features a low center of gravity and open cockpit, both of which can impact the design of transmission mounts.
To assist in the design of the Slingshot transmission mount, Polaris turned to long-time and valued supplier: Soucy Baron. The Soucy Baron team test drove the Slingshot, reviewed a CAD virtualization of the assembly process, and ultimately suggested modifications to the transmission mount bracket to streamline the design and assembly.
Additionally, Soucy Baron customized the rubber compound used for overmolding the metal components in the transmission mount.
After undergoing minor adjustments made after the prototype stage, the Slingshot transmission mount went into full production. Soucy Baron continues to produce the Slingshot transmission mount along with many other engine components for Polaris.
